I have tonight been unable to find the actual contract, but there are numerous news accounts attesting to its veracity. The rumor that we are sliding into a police state has been around a long time. The end of habeas corpus (which is the most fundamental legal safeguard against arbitrary government abuse) is certainly cause for much concern, as is warrentless wiretapping. And for those of you interested in ironic numerology, find out more about Rex 84.
All I'm saying is that there is good reason for us to keep an eye upon the Orwellian model. Although the Huxleyan will remain our primary focus.

I'd have thought this would be the type of post that might generate some comments. Apparently not. No takers?
I read what you meant by REX 84. This is very very disturbing. I am going to have trouble sleeping tonight. When you talk about the Huxley model, there is no force or coercion. However, if you don't comply you won't get what you need to survive.
Look at how the Medicaid program is designed. No one says you can't go to work. But if you go to work, then you are cut off from essential healthcare. There is no one actually forcing you not to work. But if you go to work, you lose your medical assistance for live saving medical care. In other words, there is no force here but if you don't comply you lose what you need to survive. I kind of understand where Huxley is comming from.
See you in Class,
Emanuel Clarke
That's an interesting and perceptive observation. Another major component of the Huxleyan model is distraction and pleasure. Containment by entertainment.
